The National Football League’s (NFL) Washington Redskins owner, Daniel Snyder, can easily say he is not only doing both, but succeeding. Under his leadership and ownership since 1999, the Washington Redskins still rank high as one of the most valuable teams in the NFL.
1 year after acquiring the Washington Redskins, Snyder founded the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation, which works towards impacting the development and education of youth in the greater Washington, DC area. 12 years later, the charity has proven to be one of the most successful and an impactful organization, as it has given back millions of dollars to the community. Washington Redskins players also get involved, as they donate their time to meet and greet young fans. Additionally, the team and other volunteers help distribute over 30,000 pounds of turkey and other Thanksgiving entrees during the Holiday season. They continue to be an inspiration for the community and act as role models for the youth.
Daniel Snyder is considered one of Washington’s most prominent and attentive leaders in the Washington DC community. He is a member of the Larry Kind Heart Foundation, serves on the Executive Board of the Martin Luther King Memorial Project, and devotes his time to other causes such as Washington’s Children’s Hospital, where he serves on the Foundation Board of Directors. His support as a Board Member helped construct the Snyder Family Emergency Medicine and Trauma Center. If he wasn’t busy enough, Snyder also helped create the Daniel M. Snyder and Family Communication Center at the Center for Missing and Exploited Children. This organization is a national call center that helps bring awareness to missing and/or abducted children.
